Your adventure begins with an early morning pickup in Nairobi before setting out on a scenic drive to Samburu National Reserve. On arrival, enjoy lunch and relax before an afternoon game drive where you’ll encounter Samburu’s rare northern species such as the Grevy’s zebra, reticulated giraffe, Beisa oryx, and Somali ostrich. Overnight at Samburu Game Lodge, Ashnil Samburu, or similar.
Spend a full day exploring the wilds of Samburu. Begin with a morning game drive followed by leisure at the lodge, then head out again in the afternoon in search of elephants, lions, and leopards along the Ewaso Nyiro River. You may also opt to visit a Samburu village for a rich cultural experience. Overnight at the lodge.
After breakfast, drive south to the Mount Kenya region. Stay at iconic lodges such as Serena Mountain Lodge or The Ark, both offering unique opportunities to view animals from raised decks as they gather at nearby waterholes. Journey west into the Rift Valley, arriving at Lake Bogoria National Reserve, a dramatic landscape famous for its steaming hot springs, geysers, and flocks of flamingos. Spend the afternoon exploring this volcanic wonder before settling in at Lake Bogoria Spa Resort or similar.
A short drive takes you to Lake Nakuru National Park, a sanctuary for rhinos and the rare Rothschild’s giraffe. After checking in, head out for an afternoon game drive in search of lions, buffaloes, and an array of birdlife including the vibrant flamingos that the lake is renowned for. Overnight at Sarova Lion Hill, Flamingo Hill Camp, or similar.
Optional early game drive before breakfast, then depart mid-morning for Lake Naivasha. This freshwater lake offers a tranquil escape, with an afternoon boat ride to spot hippos and birds. Drive through the Great Rift Valley into the legendary Maasai Mara. Arrive in time for lunch, followed by an afternoon game drive en route to your lodge. Expect sightings of elephants, giraffes, zebras, and possibly big cats as the sun sets over the plains. Overnight at Mara Serena, Ashnil Mara, Mara Basecamp, or similar.
Enjoy a full day of thrilling game drives across the Maasai Mara. Carry a picnic lunch and explore deeper into the reserve, with the chance to visit the Mara River where, in season (July–October), the Great Migration unfolds in dramatic fashion. Optional visit to a Maasai village to experience local traditions. Overnight at the lodge.
Another full day in the Mara gives you time to explore new areas of the park and track different wildlife. Begin with a sunrise drive, or opt for a magical hot air balloon safari at extra cost, followed by champagne breakfast in the bush. Spend the afternoon spotting cheetahs, lions, and elephants before returning to the lodge for your final night in the wild.
After an early morning game drive, return to the lodge for breakfast before setting out on the drive back to Nairobi. Arrive in the afternoon and transfer to your hotel, residence, or directly to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport for your onward flight, bringing your safari adventure to a close.
